Davis Memorial Library Book Donation Policy
- No more than 20 books by any one patron may be donated in a month.
- All books must first be inspected and accepted by a librarian.
- The librarians reserve the right to reject any material they deem unfit for resale or inappropriate.
- Call first to coordinate your donation.
We gratefully accept:
- Recent Adult Fiction and Non-Fiction titles in good condition (hardcover or paperback)
- Children’s picture books and chapter books
- Young Adult titles
- How-to books such as crafts, gardening or cookbooks
- Specialty “coffee table” books such as fine art or photography
We are unable to accept:
- Textbooks, encyclopedias, or spiral bound books
- Books with stains, odors, dirty, dusty, or that are in disrepair
- Magazines, brochures or guides
- Antique books or large collections
Other locations that may accept books:
- Goodwill, Salvation Army or other thrift stores
- Bookstores that buy back popular titles in good condition and then resell (LetterPress, Longfellow, Nonesuch, Sherman’s)
- Used bookstores (Yes Books, Greenhand Books)
- eBay or other online sellers
- Antique or specialty book shops (Carlson Turner Antiquarian Books, Harding’s Bookstore)
- Limington Swap Shop
Recycle your books:
If your books aren’t in great shape consider recycling them. Our town’s recycling bin accepts books; there is no need to remove the cover.
