Story Hour

We are closing today at noon due to the storm. We reopen tomorrow Friday February 28th at 2 pm.

This week Lea read Don’t Wake Up the Tiger by Britta Teckentrup; How to Give Your Cat a Bath by Nicola Winstanley; and Simon’s New Bed by Christian Trimmer. After the stories were read the children made cat portraits using chalk for the fur and paper shapes for ears, nose, and whiskers.

Come in to Davis Memorial Library beginning on Monday, February 10, we will be starting our Valentine’s Reading Challenge for children and adults. Read a lot and get some cool prizes.

Our cabinet display for February is a collection of gorgeous Ruby Red Avon Cape Cod glassware owned by the Dudley family.Come in and check out this beautiful display that is just right for Valentine’s month. This weeks story hour Lea read Bear Snores On by Karma Wilson and A Hat for Minerva Louise by Janet Stoeke. The children made wonderful snowman paper collages.

This week we read Bear Snores On by Karma Wilson, and Sshhhhh! Bears Sleeping by David Martin. After listening to the stories the children colored sleeping bear pictures and gave them a den.

The library will be closed today for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. We will reopen tomorrow at 10 am.

This month’s display is of Sybil Shiland’s weaving. There is an assortment of different patterns that she has created feel free to stop in and have a look.

This week we read Who Said Moo?  by Harriet Ziefert, and Old MacDonald Had a Farm, and Gossie & Friends by Olivier Dunrea. The children used stamps to make some great pictures. We have story hour Thursdays at 10:30.

January 2, 2025. For the first story hour of the year we read Dogteam by Gary Paulsen. We danced to Let’s Dance, Little Pookie by Sandra Boynton. We made pinecone/peanut butter bird feeders. Everyone had a great time. Hope to see you next week.
